Replica flight controls you can build yourself
with simple tools in a couple of hours
You may have just stepped out of a Spitfire cockpit and thought:
“I’d love something like that at home.”
The controls you’ve seen here weren’t manufactured in a factory. They were built from kits, using accessible parts and simple tools. Many people build AuthentiKit controls not for simulation, but as display pieces — something to mount on a wall, place on a shelf, or give as a meaningful gift.
They’re authentic in form and movement, and designed to capture the feel of the original aircraft. The very same controls used by the Royal Air Force at RAF Coningsby.
The easiest way to get started is with a complete kit which is available for the MkIX throttle. Everything is included: 3D printed parts and hardware with assembly videos and instructions online. All you need is a screwdriver, a pair of scissors and a couple of hours.
This kit, from our friends at SimKitSupplies, includes the parts for a display throttle and even includes the parts to make it functional in a simulator.
If you prefer a more hands-on approach, all AuthentiKit designs are available to download for free. You can 3D print the parts yourself and source the components, following step-by-step guides.

These controls don’t just look authentic — they are fully functional. Connect them to a flight simulator such as Microsoft Flight Simulator or DCS, and you can fly using the same style of controls found in the real aircraft. You don’t need a full cockpit or a dedicated room. With a small set of controls mounted to your desk, you can transform your space into a Spitfire cockpit in minutes.
Our recommended starting point is to get the Spitfire MkIX Al Inclusive Starter Kit from Sim Kit Supplies.
